Twenty two of the 30 are general dentistry listings, with six orthodontic listings, three pediatric and one general dental clinic. There are no other specialties represented here, which shapes where the rest of your care will happen.
What is listed in Uptown
The listings are spread thinly rather than clustered. Elliott Ave W has eight, 1st Ave W and 1st Ave N have four each, and W. Harrison Street and Queen Anne Ave N have three each. The rest are scattered across other streets.
Three ZIP codes appear in the listings: 98119, 98109 and 98121. Because several dense neighborhoods sit within a mile or so, checking the ZIP code and street name together is worth doing.
Seventeen of the 30 are registered as individual practitioners and 13 as organizations. Only seven have been registered since before 2010, and the oldest registration here dates to 2006, so this is a notably newer set of listings than most neighborhoods in this directory.

How to choose between them
Twenty two general dentists in a small neighborhood is a reasonable pool. Ask whether they are taking new patients, how soon they can see one, whether they hold emergency slots and whether they are in your insurance network.
Because only seven listings predate 2010, length of registration will not help you sort this list. Ask directly instead: how long has the dentist practiced, what treatments do they carry out most often, and what do they refer out.
Six orthodontic listings is a good number for 30 practices, so if you or your child needs braces you can compare more than one plan and more than one quote. Three pediatric listings gives families a small local choice as well.
If you need something Uptown does not have
Four specialties have no listing here. Endodontics, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery and prosthodontics are all found elsewhere in Seattle, about 1.6 miles away, where the city lists 60 oral surgery practices, 52 periodontic, 48 endodontic and 45 prosthodontic.
Those pools are large and the distance is short, so referrals are straightforward. It does mean that any treatment plan involving surgery, a root canal specialist, gum treatment or dentures will be split across two locations.
For more general dentists, the Central Business District has 174 listed practices at 1.3 miles, Belltown has 39 at 0.9 miles and Cascade has 31 at 1.3 miles. South Lake Union has 24 at 1.0 miles, Queen Anne has 18 at 1.0 miles and Westlake has 12 at 1.1 miles.
Insurance and what things cost
Our registry holds names, addresses and registration details. It does not hold fees, opening hours or which insurance plans a practice accepts. Only two of the 30 Uptown listings have published a website through us and only one has published hours, so most of this comes from calling.
Confirm network status with your insurer before booking. In network means the dentist bills against an agreed fee schedule. Out of network care may still be partly covered, but the practice sets its own fees and the balance normally falls to you.
Because specialist work is referred outside the neighborhood, ask for written estimates from both the referring dentist and the specialist. Their fees are separate. Claimed listings, kept current by the practice itself, are usually the quickest to give straight answers on cost.
If it is urgent
Twenty two general dentists is enough to work through if you need care today. Call early, say plainly that you are in pain and ask for an emergency slot rather than the next routine appointment.
Some symptoms need an emergency room, not a dental office. Go to hospital if swelling is spreading toward your eye or down your neck, if you are struggling to breathe or swallow, if you have a fever with facial swelling, or if bleeding from the mouth will not stop.
If nothing here can see you, search by distance at dentist directory. The Central Business District alone has 174 listings just over a mile away, so widening the search rarely means a long journey.
Questions patients ask
How many dentists are listed in Uptown, Seattle?
Thirty dental practices are listed in the neighborhood, out of 1,552 across Seattle. Twenty two are general dentistry listings, six are orthodontic, three are pediatric and one is a general dental clinic. They sit in ZIP codes 98119, 98109 and 98121, with the largest single group on Elliott Ave W.
Where is the nearest oral surgeon or endodontist to Uptown?
Both are elsewhere in Seattle, about 1.6 miles away, where the city lists 60 oral and maxillofacial surgery practices and 48 endodontic practices. Periodontics and prosthodontics are also absent from the neighborhood, with 52 and 45 listings respectively at a similar distance.
Are Uptown dental listings long established?
Mostly not. Only seven of the 30 listings have been registered since before 2010, and the oldest registration dates to 2006. That says nothing about the quality of care, but it does mean you should ask about a dentist's experience directly rather than assuming a long local history.
