Where this comes from

The National Provider Identifier registry records the sex of every individual clinician who registers, so this is the register's own record rather than anything we have worked out. It covers dentists who registered as individuals: practices registered as a company appear on the main town page instead, because the registry holds no clinician details for them.

Asking for a particular dentist

A practice with several dentists will usually book you with whoever is free unless you say otherwise. If it matters to you, say so when you book rather than on the day: it is an ordinary request and the front desk deals with it constantly.
